Sweden secured top spot in Group C at Women’s Euro 2025 after an impressive 4-1 win over Germany, who finished in second.

Germany opened the scoring early through Jule Brand in the 7th minute, but Sweden responded almost immediately. Stina Blackstenius equalized just five minutes later, and Smilla Holmberg gave Sweden the lead in the 25th minute.

A critical turning point came in the 31st minute when German defender Carlotta Wamser was sent off for a handball on the line, earning Sweden a penalty. Fridolina Rolfo converted from the spot, extending Sweden’s lead to 3–1.

The Swedes found their fourth when Lina Hurtig tapped in 10 minutes from time to complete a convincing victory.

With the win, Sweden finish atop Group C, while Germany, despite the loss, secure second place and also advance to the quarter-finals.

Sweden now await their quarter-final opponents as one of the tournament’s in-form teams, with a potential game against England on the cards.

Poland score first tournament goals in historic Denmark win

Poland made history at Euro 2025 with a stunning 3–1 win over Denmark, marking their first-ever victory and first goals in the tournament’s history.

Natalia Padilla-Bidas opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a clinical finish, etching her name into Polish football history. Just seven minutes later, star striker Ewa Pajor doubled the lead with a powerful header to give Poland a commanding early advantage.

Denmark responded in the second half, with Janni Thomsen capitalizing on a goalkeeper error in the 60th minute to cut the deficit. However, Poland quickly reasserted control as Martyna Wiankowska struck in the 77th minute to seal the landmark win.

Denmark pulled one back to set up a nervy finish when Signe Bruun rose highest but Poland held on to secure an impressive win, despite bowing out of the competition.

The result ends a historic tournament run for Poland, who finish third in Group C behind Sweden and Germany. Denmark, meanwhile, exit the competition without a point from their three matches.
