The Phoenix Suns have expressed “exploratory interest” in a sign-and-trade to acquire Jonathan Kuminga, sources tell Jake Fischer. The Suns were linked with Kuminga during their Kevin Durant trade discussions with the Golden State Warriors ahead of the deadline.

The Suns are not considered likely to have the type of assets in the form of players or draft capital that the Warriors would seek to participate in a sign-and-trade.

Aaron Turner, Kuminga’s agent, has held multiple discussions with the Warriors as he seeks at least $25 million per season.

The Warriors are reluctant to offer Kuminga a contract that high and are seeking at least a first round pick in any sign-and-trade.

The Sacramento Kings have shown the most interest in Kuminga amongst rival teams. The Chicago Bulls are a team Kuminga has targeted, but they are also navigating their own restricted free agent in Josh Giddey.
