West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo urged fans to keep the faith after his side slipped seven points adrift in the Premier League relegation zone.

Morgan Gibbs-White hit an 89th-minute penalty as Nottingham Forest came from a goal down to beat the Hammers 2-1 at the London Stadium.

Nuno has only won two games since taking charge of the Hammers and his side are starting to look adrift.

The Hammers have gone 10 consecutive Premier League games without a victory for the first time since a run of 11 between December 2006 and March 2007.

Nuno said: “We have to keep going, keep believing, and keep working. It is not over.

“It was very tight margins and we had a goal ruled out that would have put us 2-0 in front.

“Then a lot of incidents with the penalty – a tough match.

“I think we did enough things to win the match. The boys worked very hard. I think we did enough to win it.

“It’s hard to ask the fans anything. It’s hard to explain. We understand their frustration and the sadness and we are all the same. What to say? Keep helping us. Again they showed today when the team gives, they give back the support that we ned. Today the boys showed that we are here to keep the fight.”

Forest are looking well placed after they rallied to win on the road and manager Sean Dyche was understandably pleased.

He said: “It was by no means a classic, but you have got to find a way of winning.

“I’m pleased with the mentality of the players. It was an awkward game for both sides and a lot of noise around the game. To go 1-0 down and stay calm and deliver a second half that can win the game is very pleasing.

“These are awkward games. I have been through a lot of these awkward games. I am happy to come out the right side of it tonight and the players just about deserved it.”
