Persons with disabilities and families in need in the municipality of Kamza in Albania will have a new service thanks to the support of the European Union.
These individuals and families in need in Kamza have new support to move more easily and comfortably as part of the EU4SocialCare project funded by the European Union, a project that extends to 14 Albanian municipalities with a value of 3.1 million euros.
The project aims to strengthen partnerships and local capacities to plan, implement, and expand social care services, which started in 2023 and will end in 2026.
The municipalities where the project is being implement are Gjirokastra, Vora, Cerrik, Librazhd, Kavaja, Kurbin, Kukës, Kruja, Pogradec, Korça, Kamza, Vlora, Elbasan, Durres.
Meanwhile, as part of the project, a dedicated and fully accessible vehicle has been put into service for persons with disabilities in the municipality of Kamza, which will help them go to medical visits, public offices, or other essential services, addressing one of the challenges they face every day, such as the lack of suitable transportation as a prerequisite for exercising fundamental rights.
The mayor of Kamza, Rakip Suli, stated that this social transport service in the municipality he leads is another important step in supporting persons with disabilities.
At the Multifunctional Center of Kamza, the project also offers a wide range of services that include educational activities for children, counseling and support for families, therapy for persons with disabilities, as well as specialized services such as speech therapy and language therapy.
These services aim to create a safe and inclusive space where those in greatest need can find the care and support they deserve.
The investment funded by the European Union is implemented by UNICEF and World Vision in collaboration with the “Together” Foundation, the municipality of Kamza, and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. (September 19)
