Skopje – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved an 8 million euro loan to “Sparkasse Bank – Skopje” intended to support green financing in North Macedonia within the framework of the Green Financing Facility (GFF).
The funds will be intended for lending to small and medium-sized enterprises for the implementation of investments in renewable energy sources and projects that support energy efficiency and the country’s transition towards a greener and more competitive economy.
The Green Financing Facility (GFF) aims to provide accessible green financing to small and medium-sized enterprises and to individuals who do not have access to lending, in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, in line with North Macedonia’s climate goals and the EBRD’s Green Economic Transition approach.
The project is fully aligned with the Paris Climate Agreement and will be supported with technical assistance and investment support. (18 December 2025)
