Cleveland Cavaliers forward Dean Wade has drawn trade interest from multiple contenders. Teams see Wade’s $6.6 million salary as an affordable option for frontcourt depth. There is also speculation that the Cavaliers, who are dealing with second-apron restrictions, may not be able to re-sign Wade this offseason.
Wade is a versatile defender, who can guard across all three frontcourt positions. The 6-foot-9 combo forward has become a solid shooter, as he’s at 37% from behind the arc for his career.
Cleveland is nearly $20 million over the second apron this season. The Cavs project to be in a similar position next season. That could make re-signing Wade in unrestricted free agency an expensive proposition.
