On June 25, a group of Cypriot journalists from different media organisations visited the European Newsroom in Brussels.

As part of a visit to Brussels organised by the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the European Union, a group of journalists and government representatives visited the European Newsroom’s offices in Brussels.

The timing of the meeting couldn’t have been better: on January 1, 2026, Cyprus will take over the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU, which will next be held by Denmark as of July 1, 2025. Therefore, the journalists from Cyprus were eager to strengthen their knowledge on EU reporting, receiving on-the-ground tips and tricks from the enr’s core team and insights on how its network of 23 news agencies from across Europe operates.

While presenting the enr project, Tim Kohnen, Christian Röwekamp and Ian Smith walked the journalists through the most important EU sources for their reporting, such as publicly available material from the European Parliament and the European Commission.

The gathering was also attended by Stella Michael (Spokesperson of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU in Nicosia), Maria Phanti (Spokesperson Coreper II / Head of Press Office at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU in Brussels), as well as Press Counsellor Maria Pattoura.
