As President Donald Trump and California Gov. Gavin Newsom battled over the federal government deploying National Guard troops to Los Angeles, the Trump administration also sent in U.S. Marines. “Well, we’re gonna have troops everywhere,” Trump told reporters June 8. Game 2 of the 2025 NBA Finals averaged 8.76 million viewers on ABC, which was down 29 percent from Game 2 in 2024. The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers by a comfortable 123-107 margin. One of the myriad of justifications given for Trump’s love of tariffs is that they are actually a negotiating tool to get the rest of the world to be more fair to American firms.  American firms supposedly face high trade and non-trade barriers and these tariffs are to show that “we mean business” and force other countries to the negotiating table.
