Since the U.S. launched airstrikes on Iran, consumers have watched crude oil and gasoline prices spike. Between Feb. 27, the day before the strikes began, and March 9, the U.S. price of crude oil — the material that’s refined into gasoline — shot up from $67 a barrel past $90 a barrel, before settling slightly below the $90 mark later in the week. In turn, gasoline prices rose from about $2.94 a gallon in the days before the war began to $3.60 by March 11.
