Ljubljana – The European Union further tightened the rules for issuing Schengen visas to Russians on November 6. The total number of visas issued to Russian citizens for entry into Slovenia has been declining since 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, with only a slight increase observed this year, according to data from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. The EU already made it more difficult for Russians to access visas in September 2022 due to Russian aggression against Ukraine by freezing the agreement on simplified visa issuance. The number of these visas at the European Union level has decreased…

France forward Maghnes Akliouche says he is “proud” after bagging his first goal for France on Sunday. The Monaco youngster got on the scoresheet in Les Bleus’ World Cup qualifying win over Azerbaijan, with Jean-Philippe Mateta also getting on the scoresheet. Speaking after the game, he said: “I’m very proud to have scored my first goal for Les Bleus. There’s always a bit of pressure, but it’s good pressure for me. “Being good and decisive is important for an attacking player. I’m happy today. Little by little, from one selection to the next, I can feel that I’m becoming more…

Facing falling consumer confidence and widespread concern about inflation, President Donald Trump said a Walmart Thanksgiving dinner package shows his policies are lowering prices. Trump used the talking point in a Nov. 10 interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham. Days earlier, Trump referred to Walmart during a Nov. 6 dinner with Central Asia leaders, and said, “When you look at a 25% reduction in costs for Thanksgiving between Biden and me … that’s a tremendous number.” Trump, who campaigned on a promise to tackle inflation, has pushed back — sometimes misleadingly — against discussions of grocery prices increasing on his…

U.S. President Donald Trump this week secured five new trade deal frameworks to reduce U.S. costs of living, foster greater foreign investment, and address Washington’s trade deficits with other nations. On Friday, the United States reached a dual trade deal with Switzerland and Liechtenstein that will lower tariffs from 39 and 37 percent, respectively, to 15 percent. The new rate, set to take effect within the next few weeks, is expected to offer much-needed relief to Bern, which received one of the highest U.S. duties in the world; Switzerland’s initial 39 percent levy was more than double the rate that…

Switzerland and Spain all but clinched their places at the 2026 World Cup, but Denmark missed the chance to do the same in Copenhagen. Switzerland are all but certain of a place at the 2026 World Cup finals after thrashing Sweden, who must now go through the play-offs following a dreadful start for new boss Graham Potter. It looked as if Potter’s arrival as coach might spark a revival from Sweden when Benjamin Nygren equalised after Breel Embolo’s opener. But Granit Xhaka’s penalty restored Switzerland’s lead, before Dan Ndoye and Johan Manzambi made the points safe. Switzerland effectively punch their…
