Jude Bellingham was the star as Real Madrid came from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw with Elche and reclaim the top spot in La Liga. The England midfielder scored one and set up another, firing Kylian Mbappe’s cut-back into the net with three minutes left to rescue a point for Xabi Alonso’s side. Elche stunned Madrid early in the second half when Aleix Febas poked a shot past Thibaut Courtois to give the home side the lead. Former Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen then prodded home Bellingham’s knockdown to level the score, only for Alvaro Rodriguez to restore Elche’s…

Florida has executed more people in 2025 than in any single year since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976. The state carried out its 17th execution Nov. 20, with two more scheduled by the end of the year. When asked about the increase, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said COVID-19 and other factors slowed executions in some years. He said he believes the system for executions should move more quickly. DeSantis has authorized 28 executions since he assumed office in 2019, with zero executions in 2020, 2021 and 2022. His predecessor, Republican Sen. Rick Scott, oversaw 28 executions over eight years.”It’s…

From Ed Yardeni’s website: Source: Ed YardeniAccessed 11/22. The Magnificent 7 forward P/E ratio, using prices as of 11/20 (as far as I can tell) was 28.1. If the Mag 7 index rose 0.8% on Fridaythen the ratio has risen to about 28.3. It’d be nice to compare to the aggregate trailing P/E ratios, but Yardeni doesn’t provide this graph. It does seem that on an individual level, forward P/E ratios are below trailing for the individual stocks, but this doesn’t prove that the forward P/E ratios aren’t too optimistic (after all “forward” means using guesses about…

Ukraine faces a difficult decision in the days ahead as the Trump administration pushes the country to embrace a 28-point peace plan that would see it make major concessions to Russia—including relinquishing control of territory that Russian forces don’t currently occupy. “Right now, Ukraine is under some of the heaviest pressure yet,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday in an address to his nation. “Right now, Ukraine may find itself facing a very tough choice. Either the loss of our dignity or the risk of losing a key partner. Either the difficult 28 points, or an extremely hard winter—the…

Sarajevo, (Fena) – Today marks 30 years since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which represents a key turning point in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This anniversary serves as a reminder of the end of the war, but also of the challenges that remain present in the society and politics of the country. The agreement ended the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which lasted from 1992 to the end of 1995 (officially on December 14, 1995, with the signing of the agreement in Paris), and the signatories were Alija Izetbegović, Slobodan Milošević, and Franjo Tuđman. It was…

My title for Setser-Sobel in OMFIF, more soberly entitled “It’s time for China to let the renminbi appreciate sharply”: The renminbi is hugely undervalued. This is an impediment to tackling China’s enormous current account surplus and the leadership’s stated desire of boosting domestic demand. Instead of managing the currency tightly against the dollar, it is high time for the authorities to promote strong appreciation against the dollar and on a trade-weighted basis. Gauging undervaluation Prominent currency valuation models are based on current account positions. This summer, the International Monetary Fund’s External Sector Report noted China’s 2024 cyclically adjusted current account…
