The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, has argued that Europe “has to take a leap in its sovereignty” in connection with the criticism of the European Union contained in the new U.S. security strategy: “It is we Europeans who have to defend the integrity of Europe.”
Madrid – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jose Manuel Albareshas argued that Europe “has to take a leap in its sovereignty” in light of the criticism of the European Union contained in the new U.S. security strategy: “We Europeans are the ones who have to defend the integrity of Europe.”
A statement he made in Congress, where he is appearing this Wednesday at his own request to explain Spain’s foreign policy and also at the request of EH Bildu, ERC and BNG so that he can clarify the position on the Sahara and the construction of two migrant reception centers in Nigeria.
Albares has insisted that progress must be made in European sovereignty and has lamented that neither the PP nor Vox have made any reference to Europe or its security strategy in their speeches, nor to Gaza or Ukraine, issues to which the minister referred during his first intervention to underline our country’s support for Palestine and the Ukrainian people.
On the other hand, and in reference to the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machadowho was supposed to receive it this Wednesday in Oslo but did not arrive in time, he has again said that he thinks the award is “fine”, but reproached the conservatives for making their strategy importing Venezuela’s division into Spain.
