New Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo was hoping to fire Cameroon to glory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The 26-year-old has the most goals in this season’s Premier League of any player at the tournament, with five of his six in the top flight for United coming in Mbeumo’s last nine league appearances.

Cameroon are five-time AFCON champions but will not be going to the 2026 World Cup after being knocked out by DR Congo in qualifying in November.

Here’s what you need to know about Bryan Mbeumo’s schedule and record at the finals, as well as his possible return date for his club.

Bryan Mbeumo: Cameroon AFCON fixtures, schedule

Cameroon’s campaign started with a win against Gabon in Agadir on December 24.

They drew with holders Ivory Coast in Marrakech four days later and finished the initial phase by beating Mozambique in Agadir on December 31.

    Wednesday, December 24

    Cameroon 1-0 Gabon, Agadir

    Sunday, December 28

    Cameroon 1-1 Ivory Coast, Marrakech

    Wednesday, December 31

    Cameroon 2-1 Mozambique, Agadir

    • Round of 16: Cameroon 2-1 South Africa, Rabat (Sunday, January 4)
    • Quarter-final: Cameroon 0-2 Morocco, Rabat (Friday, January 9)

When is Bryan Mbeumo back from the AFCON?

Cameroon lost to Morocco in the quarter-finals on Friday, January 9, so Mbeumo can be expected to return shortly after that result.

Manchester United Premier League fixtures: When could Mbeumo play?

The next United game Mbeumo could realistically be available for is their home match against Manchester City in the league on January 17 (12:30 GMT / 07:30 ET / 04:30 PT), but he would miss that game if Cameroon reach the semi-finals.

United’s subsequent match is at Premier League leaders Arsenal on January 25 (16:30 GMT / 11:30 ET / 08:30 PT).

They then host Fulham on February 1 (14:00 GMT / 09:00 ET / 06:00 PT).

Has Bryan Mbeumo won the AFCON?

Mbeumo is aiming to win the title for the first time, having made his AFCON finals debut with an assist against Gabon in Cameroon’s opener this time around.

Cameroon’s most recent triumph was in 2017.
