Bournemouth have signed left-back Adrien Truffert from Rennes in a move that will likely pave the way for Milos Kerkez to join Liverpool.
The Cherries have paid an initial £11.4million for the Belgian-born defender, who captained Rennes last season and made 212 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.
Truffert wants to keep progressing in the Premier League
The 23-year-old told the club’s official website: “I’m really happy and proud to join AFC Bournemouth. It’s a great opportunity for me to keep progressing and to be part of an ambitious project. I felt the club’s confidence in me from the first discussions, and I’m excited to get started.
“It’s a dream for any player to play in the Premier League. It’s one of the best and most competitive leagues in the world. I’m looking forward to testing myself at this level, facing top players every week, and helping the team achieve great things.”

Bournemouth president of football operations Tiago Pinto said: “We’re delighted to bring such an excellent talent to the club so early on in the window. Adrien is a player that we’ve admired for some time and he brings significant experience to the squad despite still being just 23 years of age.

Kerkez set for Liverpool switch
Truffert is a ready-made replacement for Kerkez, who has held talks over a £45m move to Merseyside.
The Hungary international started all 38 of Bournemouth’s Premier League games last season and impressed with his energy down the left side.
He is a key target for Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, who brought him to the Vitality Stadium from AZ Alkmaar in his previous role.
If Kerkez does move to Anfield, it is likely either Kostas Tsimikas or Andy Robertson will be sold.
Robertson has been linked with Atletico Madrid.
