Rob Dillingham is leaving the Minnesota Timberwolves for the Chicago Bulls as part of the first deal of the NBA deadline day, according to reports.

Guard Dillingham and forward Leonard Miller will join the Bulls in return for Ayo Dosunmu and Julian Phillips, ESPN has said (via NBA.com).

The 10th-placed team in the Eastern Conference will receive four future second-round picks as part of the agreement, the outlet added.

Rob Dillingham trade: Leonard Miller deal

Minnesota made Dillingham the eighth overall pick in the 2024 draft but the Kentucky graduate scarcely featured during his rookie season and has been a largely peripheral figure this time around.

The Wolves gave the San Antonio Spurs their 2031 unprotected first-round pick and a 2030 swap for Dillingham but the 21-year-old’s prospects of playing more regularly were further damaged by the signing of guard Donte DiVincenzo that October.

A second-round pick in 2023, 22-year-old Miller has made 49 regular-season appearances for the team and is currently questionable with a back injury.

    Ayo Dosunmu stats

At 26, Dosunmu has been with Chicago throughout a senior career that began in 2021 and is averaging 15 points this season.

Dosunmu has also posted three rebounds and 3.6 assists per game, with 51.4% shooting from the field in the final year of a $21 million three-year contract.

    NBA trade deadline deals

The Bulls have already been involved in numerous deals in the immediate build-up to the trade deadline, which is 15:00 ET (12:00 PT / 20:00 GMT) on Thursday, February 5.

Their deals have included the arrivals of Ousmane Dieng and Collin Sexton from the Charlotte Hornets, Mike Conley from the Timberwolves, Jaden Ivey from the Detroit Pistons and Dario Saric from the Sacramento Kings.

Chicago will attempt to end a two-game losing streak when they visit the sixth-placed Toronto Raptors on Thursday (19:30 ET / 16:30 PT / 00:30 on Friday GMT).

The Timberwolves, who are fifth in the Western Conference and 5-5, are at home to the second-bottom New Orleans Pelicans on Friday (20:00 ET / 17:00 PT / 01:00 GMT).
