President Karol Nawrocki took part in a teleconference of European leaders with the President of the USA Donald Trump and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky – the Chancellery of the President announced on Sunday evening.
On Sunday in Florida in the USA, a meeting between Trump and Zelensky took place, the topic of which was ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. After the talks, both leaders held a videoconference with European leaders; Poland was represented by President Karol Nawrocki.
“They discussed the state of the peace talks, whose aim is to bring about an end to the war in Ukraine provoked by Russia,” the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland announced on the X platform.
The Chancellery also reported that President Nawrocki emphasized Trump’s strong involvement in the peace process and thanked him for the conversation. “He noted that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, Rzeszów-Jasionka airport has served as a hub for over 90 percent of aid for Ukraine. Therefore, Poland’s position at the moment of signing the peace agreement will be crucial,” the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland stressed.
The Chancellery of the President also pointed out that this conversation showed that all arrangements concerning peace and security in the region must be made among all interested parties. “The determination of the American side and the unity of position of the European states gives a real chance to end the war provoked by the Russian Federation,” it added.
After the meeting with Zelenskythe US President assessed that the parties are very close to a peace agreement. According to Trumpabout 95 percent of the issues have been agreed, and territorial matters remain the most contentious. According to him, Ukraine should give up the non-occupied territories before Russia takes them over.
