Mohamed Salah has claimed Liverpool have thrown him under the bus and declared next week’s match against Brighton could be his last at Anfield.

The Egyptian superstar delivered an explosive interview after being left on the bench for the entire 90 minutes during Liverpool’s 3-3 draw at Leeds United on Saturday.

“I can’t believe it, I’m very disappointed. I’ve done so much for this club, everyone can see that over the years,” Salah told VG Sport.

“To be on the bench, I don’t know why. I feel like the club is throwing me under the bus. That’s how I feel.”

The 33-year-old forward was benched for the third consecutive match by head coach Arne Slot. This marks the first time in his Liverpool career he has been dropped for three straight games.

Salah also revealed his relationship with Slot has completely broken down. “I said many times before that I have a good relationship with the manager, suddenly we don’t have a relationship,” he continued.

“The club promised me a lot in summer. Now I’m on the bench so I can say they haven’t kept those promises. It’s not acceptable to me.”

The defending Premier League champions have struggled this season. They sit eight points behind leaders Arsenal after Saturday’s collapse at Elland Road. Salah won the 2025 PFA Player of the Year award last season, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists.

“I am just going to be at Anfield and say goodbye to the fans before the Africa Cup of Nations,” Salah added. “I don’t know what is going to happen when I am there.”

The forward will leave for international duty on December 15. His final match before AFCON could be against Brighton at Anfield on December 13.

“I don’t think I am the problem. I have done so much for this club. The respect, I want to get,” Salah insisted. “I don’t have to go every day fighting for my position because I earned it.”
